Kiwis left with $533m Christmas debt hangover

The company’s survey of 2,117 Kiwis revealed that 44 per cent of respondents planned on using some form of credit to fund their Christmas shopping. The research found that the average Kiwi spent $319 on gifts, upping the national spend to $1.17 billion.

All of BNZ’s (and Westpac’s) recent chnages have been to their ‘special’ rates for LVRs of 80% or less. Neither made changes to their standard rates at this time. And neither made matching term deposit changes either.

Peter Martin Coleman was sentenced on Monday in the Auckland District Court to four years, nine months in prison on tax charges. His actions caused Inland Revenue to lose out on $1.072 million in tax.

More than $7m of fraud attempts at NZ’s largest bank
